What is Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS)?
Unified Communication as a Service (UCaaS) is a cloud-delivered unified communications model that supports six communication functions:
Business telephony
Meetings (audio / video / web conference)
Unified messaging
Instant messaging and presence (personal and team)
Mobility
Communications-enabled business processes
The UCaaS infrastructure is owned, managed, maintained and provided by the provider. Typical features include multi-tenancy (including tenant partitions residing in a shared UC infrastructure such as data centre, rack, compute, network, common equipment, and blades) and self-service web portals for provisioning, management, and reporting performance/usage.
The provider delivers applications from a common platform and licenses the service for a recurring monthly fee.
